Monoethanolamine is produced by interaction of ammonia or aqueous ammonia with ethylene oxide. The monoethanolamine is used in gas and petroleum industry for absorption of acid gases and sulfur-containing organic compounds, monoethanolamine of the highest and first grade is also used in pharmaceutical, textile and paint industries, in production of plastics. Appearance is a colorless or yellowish transparent liquid, opalescence is permissible.
the highest and first grade - 1 year from date of manufacture
second and third grade - 3 years from date of manufacture.
Hazard class: 2 (highly hazardous substances).
Transportation: transporterowych in covered railway cars and in covered transport facilities by road, and rail or tanker trucks.
Storage: monoethanolamine is stored in sealed barrels under shed or warehouse away from heating appliances and tanks in open areas under the cushion of inert gas at a temperature of from -40 to +50°C. Not allowed for joint storage with caustic, corrosive products, especially with nitric acid and in the presence of chlorine.
